2017 HSBC CANADA SEVENS VANCOUVER TICKETS IN BIG DEMAND; WITH LESS THAN 5,500 GENERAL ADMISSION TOURNAMENT PASSES REMAINING ON THE EVE OF PUBLIC ON-SALE, ORGANIZERS ENCOURAGE FANS TO ACT FAST.

(September 19, 2016, Vancouver, BC): With less than 24 hours to go until the 2017 HSBC Canada Sevens tickets go on sale to the general public, tournament organizers are urging fans to secure their tickets early in the face of record pre-sale numbers. Tournament Passes for the event taking place March 11-12, 2017, officially go on sale to the public beginning Tuesday, September 20, at 10:00AM PT. In only its second year hosted at BC Place as part of the 10 stop global HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, tickets to this adrenaline-filled weekend of sport and celebration are proving to be in high demand.

“After a busy week of sales from our Early Bird registrants, we can confirm that less than 5,500 General Admission tournament passes are remaining for purchase at this time, with very limited availability in 7s Reserved and 7s Access,” said Bill Cooper, CEO, HSBC Canada Sevens. “Based on the unprecedented uptake from our most passionate fans, Grosvenor Club and Field Side Premium seats are no longer available. We want to thank our Early Bird purchasers for their incredible support, and strongly encourage fans who haven’t yet secured their seats for the 2017 tournament in March to do so as soon as possible.”

The first 72 hours of Early Bird pre-sales proved exceptionally strong, resulting in more than 65% of stadium capacity sold, which amounts to more than double the Early Bird ticket transactions from the previous year. Organizers expect a full stadium in 2017, with a configuration capacity of 33,192. The majority of ticket inventory remaining is in the form of General Admission Tournament Passes, which represents the most traditional way to watch Rugby Sevens, providing fans access to seats with fantastic vantage points in both the lower and upper bowls and allowing them to congregate with fellow fans supporting their favourite teams.
