Douglas made his World Sevens Series debut on the Gold Coast of Australia in October 2012, at just 18 years of age. That made him one of the youngest players to be used by Canada’s sevens
team. This came after he had moved to Victoria as a teenager to become part of the BC Elite Youth Sevens program and became the first graduate to be named in a senior Canada sevens squad.
His debut season saw him feature on seven of the nine series events while during 2013-14 he appeared in six events before taking part in the Commonwealth Games. He played in five of the
series events in 2014-15 but always threatened with ball in hand and is maturing as a player who’s still just 21.
What makes the electric wing’s rise up the international ladder all the more impressive is that before making his sevens bow, Douglas had to show plenty of heart to fight his way back from a
torn ACL and MCL in his knee, which he suffered in 2011. Douglas won gold with Canada at the 2015 Pan-Am Games in Toronto.
