The 22-year-old, who won Rugby Canada’s Young Player of 2013, was a stand-out performer for the U20 side that season while at the University Sevens Championships he spearheaded his UVic Vikes team to glory and was the tournament’s MVP in the process.
He went on to play for the Canada Maple Leafs side and also led Canada’s U20 fifteens outfit at the Junior World Trophy, his third appearance in the age group competition.
On the sevens scene, Kay was involved with the group for a long spell before making his debut at the Gold Coast Sevens in 2013. During the 2014- 15 season, Kay played in eight of the nine
tournaments.
