The fans, the costumes, and most certainly the rugby, the HSBC Canada Sevens tournament had it all. With the book closing on another year and a new champion crowned, we take a look back at some memorable moments from an epic day of rugby sevens.

1 - South Africa Changes Civilian’s Flat Tire

Sometimes being a professional athlete, one can have arrogance go straight to their head. The Blitzboks proved that they are on the exact opposite spectrum as someone like this. They are a walking example of the sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, and humbleness that international rugby players show. On their way to BC Place Stadium for Day 2 of the HSBC Canada Sevens, the squad delayed their journey so they could lend a helping hand to a Civilian of Vancouver in need.

2 - The Bagpipes Continue To Play

The fanfare this year took HSBC Canada Sevens to a whole other level. Whether it was singing, dancing, or cheering, fans really brought an unparalleled energy, but one act that stood out was these kilted individuals, who’s pipes echoed throughout the concourse during the day.

3 - Lucky Number 100

Reaching a century of tries on the World Rugby Series is no easy task. On day two of the 2017 HSBC Canada Sevens, two men managed to achieve that milestone within a few hours of each other, Scotland’s James Fleming & USA’s Perry Baker. Kudos to you, lads!

4 - Norton Ties All-time try Record

Dan Norton continued his unreal play in the 2016-17 when he hit the field in Vancouver. Not only did he win the DHL Impact Player award & the HSBC Player of the Finals, but he chased history by tying Kenya’s Collins Injera for first on the all-time try leaderboard with 244.

5 - England On Top

England rose to the occasion in Vancouver. They came, they saw, they conquered. It wasn’t an easy conquer either, having to overcome The Series’ best team, South Africa, in the Finals. England now has beaten South Africa twice and is the only other team to win a stop on the 2016-17!
